Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged the people of Johor to select leaders committed to serving the community with honesty and without arrogance when assuming office. Speaking at a Pakatan Harapan rally in Muar on June 15, he cautioned voters against supporting politicians who stoke divisive sentiments to win backing but abandon their responsibilities once elected.

Anwar highlighted the importance of citizens making informed choices when selecting state representatives. He criticised a pattern where certain factions weaponise communal tensions to gain electoral support while failing to address public concerns after winning power. The Premier stressed that building successful politics requires people to think carefully about long-term consequences for the nation, educational institutions, healthcare systems, and future generations.

According to Anwar, elected representatives must prioritise resolving citizens' problems and supporting vulnerable groups rather than becoming complacent following electoral victories. A strong Pakatan Harapan showing in the Johor state election is essential to align state policies with the Federal Government's development framework, he argued. Such coordination enables better distribution of resources and allows grassroots communities to fully benefit from economic projects and government support.

Anwar pointed to major infrastructure initiatives as examples of federal-level work, including the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and expansion of Tanjung Pelepas Port. While acknowledging state government contributions, he emphasised the Federal Government's implementation role and called for state representatives to prioritise ordinary citizens' welfare over project management.

The Prime Minister also appealed to Johor voters living elsewhere to return home for the July 11 state election. Every vote carries weight in driving policy reforms and ensuring economic gains reach all segments of society, he stressed, urging residents to fulfil their electoral duty for Johor's progress.
