The government's handling of the Bukit Kiara Longhouse resettlement matter underscores its dedication to resolving long-standing community grievances without delay, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said on Friday. He noted that the initiative prevents unresolved issues from burdening future generations and demonstrates concrete action on social welfare concerns.

Under the permanent housing development scheme, each qualifying household will receive two residential units at no cost. This initiative is expected to substantially improve living standards for members of the urban poor community who have endured prolonged uncertainty over their housing situation.

Ramanan, who represents Sungai Buloh in Parliament, welcomed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's pledge of an extra RM1 million to Kuala Lumpur City Hall for three-year maintenance operations in the vicinity. "Though the project's scope may appear limited, its significance for residents who have waited decades is considerable," Ramanan stated in a social media message.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim laid the foundation stone for the permanent housing development earlier in the day. The longstanding resettlement dispute, which had persisted for over 40 years, gained momentum following legal action by resident representatives beginning in 2018, ultimately yielding a balanced outcome that honours residents' needs while preserving the ecological integrity of Taman Rimba Kiara.
